I regularly undertake ‘awareness’ shifts, where I monitor breaking news and developing stories across multiple regions. During these shifts, I identify and flag relevant stories for broadcast bulletins while also producing accompanying web articles to ensure coverage across multiple platforms.
My work also involves publishing content to relevant social media channels, including Facebook and X, helping extend the reach of our journalism beyond radio audiences.

Reporting for radio
My role involves identifying strong stories, arranging interviews and gathering reaction to ensure our coverage is timely, relevant and informative for listeners. I regularly speak to contributors including local authorities, organisations and members of the public to bring fresh voices and perspectives into our reporting.
Working to tight deadlines, I write radio-ready scripts that are clear, concise and engaging for broadcast. I ensure every story is accurate, balanced and legally sound, while also adapting the angle or treatment depending on the audience and region.
